Expert Advises: 'Tidy Up Before You Sell'
An expert has suggested that sellers should remove any clutter before they put their house up for sale.
Susan Llewellyn of Susan Llewellyn Associates advises that people who are going to put their property on the market need to ensure they tidy away or remove all of their clutter. She added that if items could not be removed then for them to be put away in boxes.
"The main thing is to keep a cupboard or a chest of drawers. A chest of drawers is good because it can take a lot of stuff," she commented.
Homeowners who have a large number of shoes could invest in a specially-designed rack to put in the closet, as footwear can be "terribly messy", Ms Llewellyn explained.
She urged people to discard or give to charity any old items they do not use - particularly clothes - because there is no point keeping things that are not needed.
