Housebuilders Review Trends In 2010

 

Housebuilders experienced a flat final quarter of 2010 due to a number of factors though express optimism for the year ahead.

Persimmon reported that it sold 9,384 homes in 2010, up slightly from the 2009 total of 8,976.

However, the housebuilder noted the absence of the usual upturn in sales during the autumn period, with the situation made worse by the severe weather conditions at the start of the winter, reducing sales activity further during this quarter.

The Persimmon group, including Persimmon Homes, Charles Church and Westbury Partnerships, expects to open 70 new developments over the next six months and is optimistic that interest postponed due to harsh weather conditions will return during the start of 2011.
