Property Owners Advised That Insulation Could Save Them Money

Andrew Leech, director of the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC), has asserted that installing insulation into their homes could help save UK property owners money, as it is a long term investment in energy efficiency.

Mr Leech stated that anyone who held off from installing insulation due to primary costs were not recognising the long term benefits, and possible costs that could be saved.

E.ON, the energy company, recently released reports that found that one in ten households have not taken full advantage of benefits of installing insulation in their cavity walls and lofts, many saying they just ‘can’t be bothered’.

As well as ‘can’t be bothered’, some of the other excuses cited for not installing insulation included having a loft cluttered with too much stuff, not owning a ladder, and not having enough knowledge of how to organise the installation.

The expert further explained that many people prioritise the money that could be spent of insulation to something else that requires immediate attention, especially as the current economic situation is proving quite a financial burden at present.

He clarified that "They are looking at other things to spend their money on, but it is a false economy because insulation is definitely the way to go. Loft insulation is a must, and if you have got cavity walls and can afford to have those done as well, then that is a big plus point too.”
