Recovery Of Construction Sector Met With Major Set Backs

It has been asserted that due to major constraints on the restoration of the construction sector in the UK, that measures need to be taken to tackle these setbacks in order to allow for improvement in the future, with more properties being built.

The head of communication at the Home Builders Federation, Steve Turner, said that the recent government moves towards enabling the release of land for the building of houses will assist the confidence of the construction sector. Nnevertheless, he went on to emphasise that although this is step in the right direction, it is only a start in the long journey of re-establishing of confidence in the property market.

He clarified this saying that: "It is the planning system as well that needs to be finalised to go with the land. The public sector land - that the government talked about releasing – we still need to get planning permission on that.”
These comments come subsequent to a report released by Glenigan, that demonstrated that there has been a 24% drop in property building schemes in the last three months proceedeing June this year, in contrast to last year’s figures.
He went on to say that the government has to put in place a "decent, functioning planning system" in appropriate locations in order to begin tackling this issue head on.
